Breakout star Calah Lane, has been captivating audiences since the age of four. Calah's career began on stage in Dallas, Texas, but she soon built a resume across film, TV, and commercials. From early standouts like "Bad Things" and "The Day Shall Come" to recurring roles in "Kidding" and "This is Us", she shines with infectious energy and natural talent. Now starring alongside Timothée Chalamet in "Wonka", Calah is not only an actress and singer, but also a writer and philanthropist, actively giving back to her community. This young star is one to watch!"
What inspired you to start acting? Acting has always been a part of my life. As far back as I can remember, I've been acting. I booked my first project when I was four years old at Broadway Dallas, in Dallas, TX. It was a theater show and I landed one of the lead roles in AnnieKids! My next project was at 5 years old and I booked my first commercial for the Dallas Cowboys. I'm definitely a Dallas Cowboys football fan!
What is your favorite part about acting? My favorite part of acting when I was younger was meeting new people and being on set. But now, I feel like it's more about the art of acting and how you can become a character AND being on set. In Wonka, I could be more of myself in Noodle. Although she had challenging areas in who she was, I put a lot of myself in her. So, I want to try a character in a suspense or action movie next.
Tell us about your character in Wonka. Noodle is an orphan who has almost given up on the world. She believes that her dreams of having a family is over, until Willy comes along. When he comes into her life, she becomes more optimistic about finding a friend that feels like family. So, they go on a journey together and she helps him become the chocolatier he is known as today.
How is it working with the cast and crew of Wonka? It was amazing! The entire cast of Wonka are very talented actors. I was nervous my first day on set, but Timmy and the cast treated me like family, so it was easy not to be nervous anymore. Also, the crew was so nice and inviting. It was my first time to England and my first time being away from home for so long. So, the crew being so nice helped me settle in easier and faster.
Favorite social media platform? I guess it would be Tik Tok. I'm not on Social Media a lot because my mom and dad monitor how much time I spend on it. They also make sure my accounts are managed. But, I do like dancing and being creative and Tik Tok is best for that!
What do you like to do in your spare time? I love writing, gymnastics and dancing. I write scripts for TV and Film and I've written a lot since I was 9 years old. I also love spending time with my family and having our family game nights. They are always so much fun and competitive! lol
Favorite actress/actor? Oooo, I have a lot of them. I would say Millie Bobby Brown is one. China McClain, Leonardo Decaprio, Tom Holland, Tia Mowry, ....there are so many. It's hard to stop naming them. lol!
Dream movie role? Well, playing Noodle was a dream to me. I wanted to play in a musical and I was blessed to be able to do that.....and with so many talented actors on top of that! I big BIG dream come true! If I had to choose another dream role to play, it would be fighting bad guys in an action film.
Any exciting new projects? I have a singing recurring voiceover role in the Disney Jr. series, Firebuds. It will be coming out within the next month! I'm excited for everyone to hear my character, Jazzy, sing.
